| Education Department Grades 5-12
Control Patrol
Control Patrol is designed for grades five and six. The lessons are based on the premise that all conflict is a direct or indirect result of one person or group attempting to control another verbally, emotionally, or physically. Not only do we focus on the controlling personality, but also the out-of-control client. Focusing on these, the program goals are to increase awareness of controlling personality traits in self and others, defining ways to work within the confines of this attribute as well as taking steps to change. Varied methods will be utilized, including lecture, written or verbal self-disclosure, team approach, group discussion, and games.
R.I.S.K.
R.I.S.K. is our program for grades seven through twelve. The acrostic stands for Resources, Information, Skills, and Knowledge. We believe that these tools are necessary to learning how to manage your anger. During group sessions, participants learn how to utilize these tools as part of self-exploration and ultimate change. Topics include physical and mental aspects of anger, effective communication, assessing your childhood, family traditions of behavior, and relaxation. Media and videos, Power Point presentations, journaling, "lost it" logs, workbooks, and self-discovery are used to accomplish the desired results. After twelve weeks of attendance, participation, and completion of written work, participants graduate and receive an official certificate.
